Welcome to Truth Famine. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD~Amos 8:11

Gay Christians

Gay Christians? If you're "Old School" like me the term "Gay Christians" is an oxymoron like "Cheap Gas" or "Adult Children" but what does the word of God actually say about homosexuality? Can a person be Gay and Christian? Before you reach for your bible and turn to Leviticus let's keep in mind that the easiest sins to condemn are the ones that you aren't personally struggling with and can't imagine yourself being tempted with.
The bible teaches us however that there is no temptation that any man can experience that someone else hasn't gone through before him. Even though homosexuality may not be your area of concern rest assure that the enemy is using the issue of sexual orientation to attack and divide the church today more than in any time before. Because of this we need to refresh ourselves with what the word of God says.
Many people take the position that the bible is silent or unclear about whether or not homosexuality is a sin. Here at Truth Famine we don't. Homosexuality is a sin and there are several scriptures that make that clear. 1st Corinthians 6.9 Romans 1.27 Does this mean that there are no gay Christians? certainly there are Christians struggling with other types of sins and temptations so why not homosexuality? I think if we are honest with ourselves we will admit that as Christians we've gone out of the way to make the sin of homosexuality particularly grievous and in doing so helped to alienate a group who need Christ Jesus more than we could possibly know. No there are no "Gay Christians" but there are Christians who have struggled with homosexuality. Let's make sure we don't robe them of the family and church support they need in order to overcome by condemning them with our harsh words and cold looks. Let's welcome them into the church.
